Hello and welcome from the creator of Thimble & Bear.

Hello and welcome, it is so nice to have you here. Today is Thimble & Bear's two month anniversary so I thought now would be a good time to briefly introduce myself and share a little of my story and why Thimble & Bear was created.

So, hello. I am Karen, I am the creator behind this site, and I am genuinely glad that you are here.

Yep, this is me.

Why I started this business

The honest answer is that I love to create, particularly with fabric, and I love to feel as though I am helping people. I currently work two other roles - a bookkeeper for an engineering company and a casual museum assistant in two of my local museums, but I would really love for this business to become my full time occupation.

Being trusted to create keepsakes from your special clothing is such an honour and a privilege for me and I feel that I am able to bring some joy and/or comfort, even in the tiniest way, by creating special keepsakes for you to cherish, whether that is a keepsake made from baby-grows to keep alive memories of those precious first milestones, or creating a memorial keepsake from the clothing of loved ones who are no longer with us. Whatever your requirements I would love to help.

What the first two months have really been like

The first two months of Thimble & Bear have been exciting, humbling, and a huge learning curve. It turns out you have to be a great social media content creator to get your presence known in the world of Facebook, Instagram and Tiktok - yikes! ...A new skill set needed for me there.

But what I have loved, and I mean really loved, is receiving those first few orders - thank you so much if you have placed an order, you made my day/week/month/year. Receiving an order is a confirmation that people love what I do and that they trust me enough to create something special for them to treasure forever. So, thank you, I truly appreciate you.

My little cabin workshop - huge kudos and thanks to my lovely husband for creating this for me, it really is my happy place ...and just look at that beautiful sunset!
